• Ice breaker: what are you most proud of in your time serving as a J-KOA board member?

  • Koya: Literally everything we’ve accomplished in the last two years! Everyone’s growth, our teamwork and our efforts!!

  • Toni: Building the website and branding so that J-KOA can represent itself well

  • Devi: Getting the Bay Area KOA foundation built

  • Oscar: Doing a tabling event for the Native American Center

  • Andrea: Excited to work with everyone in the future (should def be proud of starting own branch as well)

  • Ana: Being a judge at the science fair!!

  • Eric: Being a TEKS mentor and seeing the growth of our students/student participation!

  • Brian: The set up and prep for the future!

• Overview of financial system in coordination with fiscal sponsor: ACC

  • ACC to be our fiscal sponsor!

  • We cannot solicit donations, but if people ask to make a donation, they can do so through the link

  • “Supplies for our mission” 

• Vote on 2025-2026 budget

  • Legal firm consultation option: $5000 retainer

  • Alternatively, we (Daniela and Koya) can do it ourselves and go to lawyers/other people for stuff that feels like we are uncertain

  • Ana: consider reaching out to the professor on campus who has a nonprofit to pick their brain about the process

  • We don’t need to vote on this now but we would like the decide as soon as possible since the process takes a long time

  • Harini has some experience and could be a potential help! Having someone with experience in this can be helpful

  • Existing concerns?

    • Are tutorials online reputable sources for this process?

  • Ana will be where needed but definitely would prefer other volunteers so she is not missing too much work!

  • Experiments:

    • Water testing with different filtration components

    • Observing water under a microscope!

    • Additional education on photosynthesis: bubble production with and without a lamp when putting baking soda in water with the water plant

  • Projects will be scaffolded to accommodate the different age groups!

  • All boards meeting may switch to quarterly meetings instead of monthly

    • As a result, meeting day/time may change (TBD)
